NOTICE OF 2018 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Members and friends of the OBHS are invited to attend the annual general meeting of the Ontario Black History Society (OBHS).  It will be held on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 at City Hall, Community Room #3. The meeting is from 6:00—8:30pm. Contact the OBHS if you plan to attend.

 

This is your opportunity to learn more about the OBHS, join a committee, nominate members who have skills to further the work of the OBHS, meet the Board of Directors of the OBHS and to meet others with an interest in African-Canadian history and heritage.

 

What is African-Canadian history and heritage?  It includes the history of Canadians of African origin who have been in Canada from the earliest times through to the Canadians of African origin who have arrived more recently.  It includes the stories, contributions and experiences of all of the African/Black groups that have contributed in a range of ways to the development of Canada.  The Black population is multicultural and half of all Canadians of African origin reside in the Toronto area.  Therefore, the OBHS while located in Ontario, has connections to Canadian and International histories.
